Marcos Ambrose finally reached Richard Petty Motorsports. He signed a multiyear deal with RPM to drive the No. 9 ford beginning in 2011, and he planned to leave the No. 47 at JTG Daugherty racing at the end of this season.
“It’s been a wild month,” Ambrose said. Ambrose, 33, plans to take over the top car in RPM’s Garage. Stanley Black & Decker are the primary sponsors on the No. 9 next year after Budweiser. Ambrose, a road racing specialist spent his last four years in competitive ride at Cup level.
Ambrose is currently 26th in cup points and headed in weekend’s race at Bristol . “I clearly needed a place where I could grow,” Ambrose said. He added, “Who would have thought this little Tasmanian kid would one day drive for The King.”
