Thorn would make a move to an organization where Ed Stefanski working as a General Manager. Stefanski is a dear friend who worked with Thorn for six seasons with the New Jersey Nets.
Last month, Thorn has left the organization as nets president and decided to work for the new Russian group. He said that he is still interested to work again in the league but now takes over the 76ers.
“The real story is it’s time,” Thorn said upon his Nets departure. “I got along great with Mr. Prokhorov and his people, no problem with any of them. I like his forecast for what he wants to do. It’s just time. I have been thinking about it for a couple of years and I just think it’s time. Sometimes you go along and your time just runs out. To me, I felt my time was up here.”
