NY Giants Safety, Kenny Phillips is Back
New York Giants Safety Kenny Phillips is back into the action after recovering from the Knee Injury. He participated in the Giants practice session on Monday for the first time in a year. In last September, he underwent micro fracture surgery on his left knee.
Kenny Phillips was selected by the New York Giants in the first round of 2008 NFL draft as overall 32nd Pick. Phillips completed just two seasons as NFL professional player and in that last season, he started only two games. Later, he underwent surgery for his left knee. He started 18 games with Giants and recorded 80 tackles, 3 Interceptions, 7 Pass defenses. He runs 40 yard dash in 4.48 Seconds.
Kenny played college football at university of Miami and ended his college career with 259 tackles, fifteen broke up passes, three forced fumbles, recovered two fumbles, seven interceptions.
During his college career in 2005, he was selected in Sporting News Freshman All-ACC and Sporting News Freshman All-American. In 2006 and 2007 Kenny was selected in First-team All-ACC.
Phillips made a five year contract with the Giants for $11.15 million. But, after playing one complete season with Giants, he was injured in the last season. After eleven months, he was on field for the first time to participate in a practice session.
