Radek Stepanek won the match against No. 3 seed, Fernando Gonzalez with 6-2, 6-4 and moved to the third round of Pilot Pen Tennis.
Fernando Gonzalez played his first match since from Roland Garros which was held in last May. Gonzalez took rest for three months due to his knee injury.
Stepanek, 30, broke served four times and saved four of five break points on his own to take fourth win in five career meetings against the hard-hitting Chilean.
Stepanek came up with zero wins since ATP World Tour tournament match which was held in November, in Memphis. That was his only victory since the first week of the season, when he pushed Andy Roddick to two tie-breaks in the Brisbane final.
Stepanek next meets 16th seeded Romanian Victor Hanescu, who defeated German Daniel Brands 6-3, 6-4 in his last match.
