Cincinnati Women's Open: Sharapova Defeats Kuznetsova

Sharapova beats Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first round of Cincinnati Women's Open. The score was set between the two players in the third round is 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. Till now, Sharapova won the Grand Slam titles for 3 times.

Kuznetsova stated that”She has used all her chances in the first set, so it was a bit difficult to win the game”. Maria Sharapova entered into the second round, while top player, Jelena Jankovic followed sharapova on the court and scored the set of 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the third round berth against the Russian player Vera Dushevina.

Svetlana Kuznetsova left the court to take the treatment after the third set of game due pain in her left knee and back pain. Last year Maria Sharapova struggled a lot with lot of injuries, but however she played the game with good spirit.

According to WTA tour rankings, Maria Sharapova was ranked at No. 15 and Svetlana Kuznetsova was ranked at No. 14, which is one rank higher than Sharapova.
